Honoring Burnsville’s Strength After Hurricane Helene

Today was another extremely special day to us. We spent the day remembering and honoring those lost a year ago as Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina. We remember days that we prayed nonstop for direction from God on where to go with the mules and that God would put the right people in our path so we could help.

And He did.

Day after day, we followed this belief, even when all the answers weren’t there…”Pack it up, and follow the Lord.”

And we did.

Although we have been to Burnsville many times in the past year, today felt incredible to see smiles proving the resilience of these beautiful people. Our hearts have ached for them all year long, and we are glad to see this day not only honoring and remembering, but also celebrating their resilience. We are proud of the strength they have shown, and the beauty they have shared in community.

We were grateful to be there for a beautiful ceremony and unveiling of the monument that will stand strong in Burnsville from now on. It was a pleasure to lead their parade, and share the mules with all that came to visit them.

Although a year has passed, the work is still not done. And Mission Mules will continue to be here.

Thank you to every donor and supporter that helps these missions.
